Bangalore Kids to run to promote 1098 child safety Helpline : “We need safer Bangalore” say the kids

Bangalore (16th Sept 2014) :  Over one thousand children of classes 10th , 9th and 8th standard of various schools are getting ready this weekend to run for building awareness of 1098 Child helpline. The event organized by Agarwal Samaj Karnataka presented by Salarpuria Sattva “AGRASEN RUN 1098” powered by Green Ply and Koreweld,  will see the over thousand students participate in the  run at  Cubbon Park. The event is supported by Planet Kids, Shree Shyam PLywoods, Mor Charitable Trust and Bhoruka, medically supported by Mahraja Agrasen Hospital. The organizers Agarwal Samaj hope that the event will build the much needed awareness “Most schools have done some precious bit for helping improve child safety , we thought we will do our bit and are glad that the number 1098 is now known to students of over 100 schools we approached. The children will remember that 1098 is the number that they need to reach out to when in distress” says Sanjay Garg , Secretary Agarwal Samaj (Karnataka) Regd.
The support for the organizers has been forthcoming with authorities especially the City Police department and horticulture department lending a helping hand to make the event a success. Even the corporate world has been supportive. “Child safety is paramount and we are glad to be associated with the event which will go a long way in guiding children. We assure our closest cooperation and support to the organizers not just for the AGRASEN RUN 1098 but also any other initiatives to improve child safety. “ says Bijay Agrawal, Chairman Salarpuria Sattva Group.
The Bangalore schools have been very supportive and many of the schools like the Army School , Delhi Public School , Green Wood High International School have assured over a hundred students participation. The entries are open to all schools including the ones run by state government and BBMP. The volunteers from Agrawal community in Bangalore have been working for over one month preparing for the event. “The Agrawal community always stands by the society and we are proud that our youth are coming forward to send a message WE CARE to the society at large”says Bipin Ram Agarwal , President Agrawal Samaj Karnataka.
The challenges for the organizers have been immense , and they hope the spirit of sportsmanship that the runners will present on 21st Sept will overshadow everything else . “The Prize Money of Rs 51,000 is an incentive for the winner, but we are also ensuring that everyone who completes the race especially the first 50 will get medals and others certificates” says Mr Suresh Jalan , Convenor of AGRASEN RUN 1098.
